My fashion trend would be called Vintage with a Twist. Vintage shopping has really taken off lately; for me, though, it's all about taking it a step further and pairing a vintage find with modern or trendy pieces. It creates a look that is all my own.
Her tips on how to wear it
When I go to a thrift store I always look for staples: skirts, blouses, and dresses. I start there and then look for classic shapes that look good on my body type. When I wear what I find I match it with something that is trendy now. I love the juxtaposition of old and new. It's all about taking risks, having fun and staying confident in what you come up with!

Denim and Chambray: This one comes with a sigh of relief because it's something we all already for the most part have and love: denim and chambray. These two fabrics, which were spotted quite a bit on the Spring 2010 runway shows from the likes of Anna Sui and Derek Lam, make for an interesting take on comfort meets posh. From lightweight button-up denim blouses to even a little denim dress. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of this staple item, and not just in the form of your trusty blue jeans.
Her tips on how to wear it
Since denim is such a functional piece, try playing around with it a bit. Pair it with different fabrics and textures. Have a denim or chambray (preferable since it's lighter) button-up blouse? Wear it with your leather pencil skirt or perhaps underneath 2009's champion: the boyfriend blazer. And the best part? It's almost scary how abundant it is at thrift stores and consignment shops these days. Just do us (and yourself) a favor and don't wear too much denim at once.

I think this will be the year of the 'Personal Style' and individual expression. Everyone is experimenting with off-the-wall elements like petticoats, mixing prints, tights and leggings (in every color shape and texture) and accessories that show the human hand's involvement. I am noticing that I am wearing more preppy and menswear inspired looks lately, but that really changes from day to day. I feel optimistic that no matter what, personal, signature looks are always in style.
Her tips on how to wear it
I really feel like anything goes, but a dark gray, denim pencil skirt is a great base for printed blouses, layers of button-up shirts, knits and scarves, and any type of legging imaginable. It’s my go to staple item and the starting point for many of my outfits.

I have a feeling that short shorts (a.k.a. hot pants) will take off as a trend in 2010.
Her tips on how to wear it
Wearing tights under shorts has been trendy for some time, and that's a great way maintain some modesty while wearing an ultra short pair. For cooler months, sport your shorts over leggings or warm tights, add layers on top, and finish your look with a favorite pair of boots. I'm currently on the lookout for a pair of silky draped pantaloons for spring. Unlike the tomboyish treatment I gave my denim shorts, I would wear those with sheer or textured tights, a flirty top and plenty of jewelry.

Romantic and feminine pieces that are neutral, blush or peach-colored. The idea is to create a simple, pared-down look that is subtle but still elegant.
Her tips on how to wear it
The majority of the outfit is monochromatic. Next, accent with subtle accessories so as not to disrupt the consistency of the overall look. Then, to dress the trend down a bit, incorporate a more casual piece into your outfit such as a tan corduroy blazer, boyfriend vest or cropped cardigan, which will add an element of ease and comfort.

2009 saw the beginning of mixing prints, but in 2010 I predict the trend will take off. I love the look and think it is a spunky way to show off your creativity with fashion.
Her tips on how to wear it
Although the looks on the runway mixed bold colors and wild patterns, the look can translate to everyday life by wearing subdued colors and smaller patterns. But I say 'Have fun! Step outside the box!'

I'm seeing a lot of pattern mixing going on already and I expect this trend to really take off in 2010. From simple pairings like polka dots and stripes to the hyper mix of paisley and floral, I think mismatched patterns add great texture to any outfit.
Her tips on how to wear it
For those new to the trend, start off simply by adding stripes and a patterned accessory together or two black and white prints. Once you get your feet wet, experiment with two patterns of a similar color scheme. Be sure to ground your look with one solid piece like black tights or a simple cardigan.
