I was able to achieve this hairstyle with my long thick hair within 10 minutes, loosely pulling my hair back, then fastening with a ouch-less band and pulling it through like a ponytail but not completely. I then used coated bobby pins (you want coated to avoid any snags and breakage with your hair along with using a ouch-less hair band) and a comb to lightly tease my hair then fan out and use the bobby pins to help discretely hold some of the hairs in place to keep that messy, but sexy look in the back! Great for weddings, proms, special events and even if you just wanna go out in chic style!

Forget about pouty lips and rosy cheeks. The eyes are the windows to the soul, so you want yours to shine brightly. Regardless if you're a blue-eyed beauty or a brown-eyed cutie or if your eyes are green with envy. We have some great tips to accentuate the color and shape of your eyes in a snap.

Know your true colors

The easiest way to make your eyes stand out is to use complementary shades of eye shadow that work best with your specific color. It may come as a surprise, but you should not wear the same color eyeshadow as your eye color. Here are some general guidelines:

For brown eyes, try pale greens or blues. This brings out the warm tones in your brown eyes and make them appear richer. Use darker jewel tones, like dark plum, for a smoky and sultry look.

For green eyes, use pink tones and reddish-berry shades for daytime wear and shimmering bronze and ruby shades for evening. The contrast of the reddish shades against the green of the eyes will make the color of your eyes sparkle.

Pack your purse with these makeup must-haves to easily take your look from day to night.

ENHANCE YOUR EYES

The night goes dark so why shouldn’t you? To get your eyes ready for a night out on the town, use a darker shadow, such as a charcoal, brown, mauve or green hue, and apply it with a shadow brush in the crease of your eye toward the outer edge. Less is more; don’t over-apply the shadow but be sure to blend it in with a sweeping motion.

Add a shimmery highlighter, filling in the space just under the eyebrow to the crease of the eye. Choose a soft pink, beige or silver colored shadow that will illuminate your gaze.

Really want to sparkle on your next night out? Glitter is another night-appropriate addition to your eyes but less is definitely more.

LITTLE BLACK EYELINER

Complement your little black dress with some little black eyeliner, perfect for night and any skin tone. Extending just past the outer edge of your eye, draw a thin line along your upper lashes to the midpoint of the eye. Consider the natural shape of your brow bone to know how far and at what angle your eyeliner should extend.

Then use an angled brush to blend the eyeliner so there isn’t a hard edge between it and the shadow. Finally add a small amount of eyeliner just below the lower lashes and blend toward the center of the eye to complete this smoky look.

LUSCIOUS LIPS AFTER-DARK

Start with the lip color you already chose for the day, and using a lip brush, apply a darker hue over it. Go for a purplish-brown, red or darker pink shade that complements your skin’s natural undertones (pink, yellow, olive; warm or cool). The brush will make the color last longer since no oils from your fingers can prevent its application. It will also ensure a sheer coverage that isn’t too overwhelming for a powerfully subtle, sultry kissable look. Add a luster gloss for a shiny statement.

Ultra-shiny

This spring, super sleek, healthy strands with dazzling shine are the must-have look according to Sherri Jesse, owner and stylist of Sherri's Hair Salon in Bristol, VA and member of the Rusk Creative Team. Stylish gals have long recognized straightening irons' ability to lock in shine and tame frizzies, however now, "to create a new twist, use your straightening iron to create glamorous waves," Jesse says. We recommend boosting your hair's shine by swapping your shampoo and conditioner to Alterna Hemp with Organics Shine Shampoo ($23) and Conditioner ($20).

Soft, messy half updo

"The most asked about trend for spring is 'semi dressed hair,'" says Carmine Minardi, co-owner of Minardi Salon in New York City.

Start by applying a volumizing mousse (Minardi suggests Minardi Abundance). "Blow dry your hair using just your fingers, giving your hair a 'messy,' tousled look," says Minardi. To tame frizzies, use a straightening iron on a low heat setting and don't flatten your strands completely.

To put up your hair, "Take a section of hair, about four to five inches in circumference at the crown (top of the head), and begin teasing the root area from the scalp to about three to four inches up the hair shaft for lift," Minardi explains. "Next, take a soft boar bristle brush and while leaving the rest of the hair around the face out, begin lightly brushing the top layers of hair back to the crown and up on the sides until all the teasing can not be seen. Now brush all that hair to one side of your head. Place bobby pins to secure the roots, then fold the rest of the hair to the other side and pin with hair pins."

Semi-straight, tousled look

More styled than the bedhead or beach waves look, the semi straight tousled look still has that effortless chic appeal. This look is sure to be big this spring, according to Phillip Wilson, international creative director for FHI Heat, Inc.

"To achieve this look, start by using a low PH (detangling) shampoo and conditioner that will help repel the outside humidity that causes frizz," he explains. Next, towel dry your hair. Before blow-drying, "begin by applying FHI Heat Hot Sauce to the mid strands and ends or a volumizing whipped foam or mousse at the base to provide support and volume," Wilson says.

Start by flipping your hair upside down and running your fingers through it while you dry. Then blow-dry right side up with a center part. "Finish by using a pea size amount of pomade or styling wax, such as David Babaii Molding Paste towards the hair ends,"

Bangs have been all the craze the past few years. However this spring it's time to grow them out says Suzie Bond of PERFECT 5th Salon in Mooresville, NC.

As we age -- which is a good thing, given the alternative! -- there is no question that the right hairstyle, cut and color can help us look younger. Here, see if your hairstyle is making you look old and how to nab a more youthful look.

'The angle, layering and overall style of the cut will either camouflage or accent someone's best features and catch the eye,' says Elena Golesco of the New York Cosmetic Image Center in Great Neck, New York. 'As for length -- it's highly individual… long, short or medium can work. Again, it's the cut and styling, which has to be right for the individual woman, that makes all the difference.'

A Cut Above the Rest

The right cut will draw attention to your face and highlight your best features -- big, gorgeous eyes, full lips, great skin, etc.-- and it can also make up for facial flaws. 'Let's say you have a strong jaw line (a la Reese Witherspoon) and want to soften your overall look. Go for a cut with long layers and side-swept bangs,' says Elena.

Color Commentary

'I usually advise a client to go a lighter shade rather than a darker shade when hair is turning grey to brighten up the overall look,' says Beverly Zunke, director of color at San Francisco's Vim and Vigor Salon and former educator for Goldwell. 'I like to use a more translucent color to blend grey hair, which helps to soften the look as the hair starts to grow out. Using a matte color makes the regrowth more visible. I also add some lighter highlights throughout the hair, which helps with grey blending. Also, when covering or blending grey hair on male clients, I generally use a demi-permanent color which fades off over a period of a few weeks, instead of leaving a line of demarcation.'

Add Some Layers

Celebrity hairstylist Francky L'Official always recommends that women keep their hair between the chin and shoulders with light layers or soft waves around the face with mega volume. One of the most common signs of aging is when the hair starts to fall out and the texture begins to change. For this, Francky recommends adding extensions to create fullness and volume the hair once had. Layers apply to color as well: Francky says that lighter hair around the face with darker hair near the neck (think Barbara Walters) makes women look younger because it distracts from their aging necks and brings attention to their eyes and cheekbones.

Older and Wiser

'The older woman should also stick with simplicity when it comes to a cut such as a wedge bob,' says Don Bewle, long-term hair professional and founder of Eufora hair care. At least 70 percent of the hair should be one length because as we get older hair thins and heavily layered hair will only emphasize this. Also, if it is one length and shiny, light will bounce off of it giving it a youthful appearance.

If a woman is salt and pepper, go with reverse highlights. Have your stylist weave your darkest color throughout because it richens and brightens up hair, again giving it a youthful appearance. Your darkest color is usually found in the back. If you do this, you will only have to color once or twice a year, which prevents excess damage and drying from color that ages hair.

Handheld bag

So skimping on your REM cycle can leave your face droopy, discolored, and puffy. Of course, packing in eight wonderful hours of zzzz’s per night is not always easy. As powerful women, let’s face it: We’ve got it goin’ on. We’re managing households, families, careers, the works. But if we don’t make sleep and self care a priority, no one else will. Here are some tips for getting more quality beauty sleep.

First things first: There’s no prescribed amount of sleep everyone should have per night. Sure, you’ll hear "eight hours" tossed around, but according to the National Sleep Foundation, there is no specific magic number. Sleep needs vary with age groups as well as the individual. You may be at your absolute best with seven hours of full sleep per night, while someone else may need nine.

Set a bedtime.

Once you determine the proper amount of sleep per night for your body, adhere to a set bedtime. Often, we pack so much into our days that our heads hit the pillows later and later each night. The key is setting a bedtime and actually sticking to it. If this means you need to cut out an extra television show at night, by all means, do it. Once you get your body into a routine, you’ll be able to establish good sleeping habits. And that's what TiVo is for, right?

Avoid caffeine.

It sounds like a no brainer, but you might be surprised at how early you actually need to stop drinking caffeine in the day to have a restful night of beauty sleep. I have a true admiration for Japanese and in fact Asian fashion mainly due to New York designers of Asian descent such as Derek Lam, Vera Wang, Anna Sui, and Philip Lim but also because of the street style blogs, especially Style Arena about Tokyo street style. This is the reason why I start browsing for asian designers and started with Japan Fashion Week as a fashion week usually gathers the best designers. Thirty-six fashion houses presented their 2008 spring/summer collections.

Junya Tashiro (born in 1974) is a Japanese fashion designer based in Fukuoka City who creates women's clothes, mainly dresses and skirts, as well as handbags and fashion accessories. He often uses natural fabrics such as linen and a basic, earthy palette.

Hiroko Koshino (born 1937, Osaka) is an established designer based in Japan, a graduate of Bunka Fashion College (1961). At the time she was a colleague of Yohji Yamamoto and Kenzo Takada, all future Tokyo fashion leaders. She showed in Paris and at Alta Moda in Rome. Her designs are based on the traditional clothing, the Japanese kimono, following its aesthetics of volume and layering. If you don’t sleep enough you will definitely wrinkle up faster than you’re supposed to.
Express your emotions. Girl, get it out. Repressed emotions can cause all sorts of issues. And not to mention the stress you put your body through by holding on to these emotions will age you faster than you care to know, leaving you with worry lines and black circles under your eyes.
Have a stress busting daily routine. Whether it’s getting to the gym, pounding the pavement or taking deeeeeeep yogic breaths. Just do it!
And, most importantly, look into the mirror each day, staring deep into your own eyes and tell yourself, “I love you!” Say it with umph. Say it with pride. Say it over and over until you actually believe yourself. Confidence is the absolute key to everlasting beauty.
